Alive and Well and Kickin' It

I suppose when one gets to a point where one is getting concerned e-mails from one's parents, friends, and just about anyone she's met since approximately age 11, it has probably been a bit too long since she updated her blog. And so. Hello! Thanks for sticking with me as I balance life with a daily job, cute but demanding kitties and a fresh supply of Veronica Mars episodes (thanks, Andy!). These are all extremely distracting things. I'm sure you understand.

Let's see if we can't catch you up on all that's been happening over here lately. We'll start first with Christmas and New Year's, which saw a visit from my brother Andy. We spent a week in Bali over Christmas, mostly eating, beaching, rice paddying and snorkeling around old Japanese shipwrecks (so. fantastic!). We headed up to Bangkok for New Year's (far from any bombings, thank goodness) and managed to hit all the highlights there and have a perfectly ridiculous and very fun NYE to boot. And then we headed to Chiang Mai, site of the infamous food poisoning incident of early '07, but which was quite a nice little city. Lots of monks! You know how I love the monks.

In any case, let's start with some pictures from his trip. First, Bali:

Then we moved on to Bangkok, where Andy took the opportunity to phoon on Soi Cowboy, much to the amusement of the local lady dancers:

Also, let it be known that tuk-tuk rides are really bad for the hair:

Then, on to Chiang Mai! Pretty much summed up by: barfing and monks.

In other news, my fantastic and very funny little cats continue to devise ways about how they can win the Cutest Kitties Ever pageant:

About me

Well, hello there. You've reached the photoblog of Betsy, who has not actually lived in China for some time. The site name is not a total lie: She did live in Beijing from 2003-2005, but then moved to Singapore from 2006-2007. In late 2007, she returned home to the U.S., where she plans to continue posting pictures of her travels around the States and frequent trips back to Asia, and asks you all to just kindly accept the incorrect name of this site for just a little while longer. If you're crazy for Asia pictures, there are lots and lots of archives below that will surely satisfy that itch.

I also keep a fashion blog, if that's the kind of thing that interests you.

Want more? Go ahead and send me a note. I love mail!

About my cameras

Most of the pictures on this site have been taken with various versions of the Canon Elph (Ixus in Asia), most recently the Canon Elph SD400, which I purchased in late 2005. In early 2007, I also began using a Nikon D80 SLR camera with an 18-200mm kit lens and, more recently, a 52mm lens.
