Happy holidays!

Firstly, the kitties would like you to know that they are really enjoying America. Apparently, the armchairs are waaaay more comfortable than in Singapore. And they really prefer the snuggly warm of the heating system to that awful, frigid air conditioning.

Secondly: yes, we are all in America! We moved back to the D.C. area two weeks ago today and are still very much getting settled in and figuring out the fastest way to get to Target. We are also still happily making our way through the various food groups that we'd been missing for the past four years (if by "food groups", I mean steak and various hearty breakfast options, which I do).

As to the future of betsygoestochina.com, it will soldier on, with decidedly more American content for the time being. But, I figure it's been two years since I actually lived in China and we've all accepted the incorrect name thus far, so what's another few years? (Rather ironically, there's a chance I may be in China next month for work, so we might actually get a short stint of legitimacy soon.)

In the meantime, happy happy holidays! We'll be back in the new year with exciting new photos, which may include – and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too high here, especially my own – a roadtrip to Graceland. Can we say ridiculous Elvis paraphernalia and BBQ? Yee haw.

About me

Well, hello there. You've reached the photoblog of Betsy, who has not actually lived in China for some time. The site name is not a total lie: She did live in Beijing from 2003-2005, but then moved to Singapore from 2006-2007. In late 2007, she returned home to the U.S., where she plans to continue posting pictures of her travels around the States and frequent trips back to Asia, and asks you all to just kindly accept the incorrect name of this site for just a little while longer. If you're crazy for Asia pictures, there are lots and lots of archives below that will surely satisfy that itch.

I also keep a fashion blog, if that's the kind of thing that interests you.

Want more? Go ahead and send me a note. I love mail!

About my cameras

Most of the pictures on this site have been taken with various versions of the Canon Elph (Ixus in Asia), most recently the Canon Elph SD400, which I purchased in late 2005. In early 2007, I also began using a Nikon D80 SLR camera with an 18-200mm kit lens and, more recently, a 52mm lens.
