Your good deed o' the week, maybe.

OK, kids. A little change of pace. I don't usually go around asking for support, but this Saturday, I'll be taking to the DC public schools with a paintbrush and a toolbox as part of a city-wide effort to spruce up the schools. (Ha ha, I'm not sure they know what they're in for. Who wants to bet I get relegated to "supervising duty" within the first hour?) The Servathon project is organized by Greater DC Cares, a really excellent nonprofit here that organizes an ongoing schedule of diverse community volunteer opportunities year-round (I'm also on the roster of their regular volunteers).

This is their major annual fundraiser, and I've done a paltry job so far of helping get the word out. If you can, please sponsor me in the Servathon and help raise money for a fantastic cause. It's definitely okay if you don't (except if you are my parents or my brother – I'm expecting at least $5 from you in the name of family harmony!), but I thought some of you who can't actively participate might be willing to consider this your good deed this week. Plus, if I can reach my donation goals, maybe the other kids on my painting team will be friends with me.

Thank you so very much in advance. Be back soon with pictures!

About me

Well, hello there. You've reached the photoblog of Betsy, who has not actually lived in China for some time. The site name is not a total lie: She did live in Beijing from 2003-2005, but then moved to Singapore from 2006-2007. In late 2007, she returned home to the U.S., where she plans to continue posting pictures of her travels around the States and frequent trips back to Asia, and asks you all to just kindly accept the incorrect name of this site for just a little while longer. If you're crazy for Asia pictures, there are lots and lots of archives below that will surely satisfy that itch.

I also keep a fashion blog, if that's the kind of thing that interests you.

Want more? Go ahead and send me a note. I love mail!

About my cameras

Most of the pictures on this site have been taken with various versions of the Canon Elph (Ixus in Asia), most recently the Canon Elph SD400, which I purchased in late 2005. In early 2007, I also began using a Nikon D80 SLR camera with an 18-200mm kit lens and, more recently, a 52mm lens.
