Hey from Singapore (finally!).

home again, home again...

You may be happy (or, perhaps more likely, relieved? surprised? completely disinterested?) to know that -- after much pleading and yelling with the powers-that-be at Thai Airways, an airline you should never, EVER fly -- I finally arrived back in SIngapore yesterday. It's just enough time for me to spend a few days doing the massive amount of laundry I've accumulated over the past month before packing up and heading to the U.S. on Thursday, where I will spend some brief but hopefully enjoyable time in the Empire State, the First State and the Golden State (and some transit time/day visits to what we will now call the Jersey State and the Liberty Bell State, because I'm not spending enough time in either area to look up their proper, government-approved nicknames. I do believe my intent is still clear.) In any case, I hope there will be a lot of thrift store shopping and outdoor grilling involved. I cannot wait!

are these not the cutest boots ever? i heart tiny golden wings!

I'm sure some of you may be wondering where I am. So yes, I'm still in India (today happens to be the four-week anniversary of my arrival). I still love it here -- particularly because Vinod and Neena have been making sure I sample all of India's finest cuisine, and you know how I love to eat -- but mainly, I'm still here because I can't seem to get a flight home. Whoops. So, I'm just hanging out, finishing up some articles and keeping myself busy. But! I'm booked to fly from Singapore to NYC next Thursday, so gosh darn it, I will get out of here before then.

As the kids say: DEVELOPING...

um, guess who made it to the society page?

Remember back when I thought three weeks in India would be more than enough? How naive of me. I decided a few days ago to not go home tonight, but stay here for another week or so (or, really, as long as my editors will let me). In fact, I think Mike's so worried I might never come back that he's making plans to visit ME here this weekend. I'm sure he's somewhat relieved that I have a flight booked to the U.S. at the end of the month, which means that eventually, I'm going to have to be dragged (kicking and screaming, no doubt) back home. Booooo.

I am so in love with India. I seriously think it might be my favorite place in the world. I keep waiting for the charm to wear off, but it hasn't yet (and hopefully, it never will). I could go on and on, but I've got a scary amount of work to do and so, I think that today, I'll pretty much let the pictures speak for themselves.

a lot of my time has been spent seeing this, which i love...

the rest of the time has been spent exploring Bombay, where all these photos were taken.

Hi, I'm Betsy, and I'm in Singapore. (But I used to live in China, hence the name of this site, which I am just too lazy/busy/reluctant to change. See the archives below for more on that.) I arrived in Singapore on January 5, 2006 for two years of palm trees, shopping malls and regular rainstorms. There are lots of adventures in the works, so stick around, it should be fun.

Want more? Go ahead and e-mail me. Say hello!
